Songs and many more

“When I look at you, and I know it’s gonna be… a lovely day… (lovely day, lovely day ..)”

*LOL* Both me and little Cal love this song that came up in the TV commercial. He then ask me to sing along with him, especially as the back-up singer. This was exactly what happened years ago between me and a friend whom I met in UK during my study years. Both of us would keep on singing “lovely day” and one will drag on and see how much longer can we sing, it was fun!

Only just this morning, Lite FM were playing “Don’t forget the word” and the song goes “Get out of my dreams! And get into my car!” It was another song that I had my radio in top volumn. There are so many nice songs in Lite FM, maybe it shows how old I am, but really, those were the songs that accompanied me all this while and I start to fall in love with Lite FM *LOL*.

At the moment, I’m getting myself busy uploading my scrapbook layout to Memorable Seasons’ online gallery hoping that I’ll get pick to be in their designer team for September. It is just fun to play with free kits, isn’t it? I’m also trying out challenges online that offer random acts of kindness (RAK) or with gift! On the other hand, I’m also busy trying to get some more stamps for my card business in Etsy. I hope to get more sales and add up my Paypal account to get more scrapbook things, it is really a cycle, isn’t it? And surely hope there is no balance transfer to be done in my credit card!

Smaller print

I’m so glad that I’ve found a photoshop which process 2-up photos in 6″x4″ and with two different photos in there, means I get two 2.5″x3″ photos! Isn’t that great!? I have been processing 2-up photos which only do the same photo in one 6″x4″ which really is a waste and I just keep the extra. I only found out this place after asking them if they do 2-up yesterday, I’ve been processing some of my photos there. They are the photo print shop in City Mall. Yup, the only photoshop there on the Gth Floor.

They even do 4-up, means 4 little photos in a 6″x4″, forgot to ask if it still cost the same like 2-up (RM2). Smaller photos means I can include more photos for my scrapbooking and it means more fun!! Yay!

TGIF

Thank God it is Friday and thank God that little Mer has recovered from fever and have been feeling jolly good last night. He is still a bit grumpy when I sent him to school though and I’m sure he lie about teaching scolding him, for he just want to get my attention. Lying is a natural stage for him right now as he’ll try all means to get my attention and gets what he wants. So I left him while he was still crying this morning.

As for yesterday, something amazing showed up in the sky. It was drizzling when I left my office and I was greeted by one whole rainbow! Yes, not little bit, not half, but one full rainbow! It is indeed a rare scene for me but it didn’t last long because it is late in the evening. Wish I could take a better photo but it was late and I don’t want to be out there with my umbrella and pointing my camera to the sky, some people might think I’m stressed out and getting nuts.
full rainbow

As for today, I’ve one challenge that I wanted to submit to Coconut ScrapShop forum, but I still left the journal part, so I’ve brought the layout together with my ink pad, journal tag and glue to the office. Hoping to do it over lunch hour, so that I can snap it and post it up later. I’ll be posting it in my other blog - “The Daily”.

At the mean time, I wanted to get another scrapbook album by American Craft, probably from Scrap-n-Crop, else my layout will be all laying inside a box again. Let’s hope that I can do all that over lunch hour when everyone will not be using the network. *grin*

I’m also trying to get some friends to join me in dong scrapbook, including this friend of mine who has bought some scrapping materials and yet didn’t start a page! Last Sunday, we went over to her place to listen to a “beauty talk” by Mary Kay’s beauty consultant. But what caught my eyes was the interiour decoration of her home. So questions of who pick all the materials came up, and she reveals that she did all the choosing part, every little things from the color of the wall to the light fixtures. However there are a few things that her hubby chose which she was complaining as they seems out of place and she doesn’t like the color. It took her quite some times to get used to them. Probably I’ll be facing this kind of problem when I do renovate my house or I might be the lazy one and let hubby do all the choosing part including budgeting. However, I’m telling myself I’ll definitely include a space for my scraproom or scrap area with good lighting and enough store area for all the papers, embellishments and albums. At the mean time I’ll just have to work in my old shaddy scraproom.

Craft time for the boys

The boys were thrill for being able to create cards for their daddy by using almost all tools and materials from my scrap. I’ve ready some scrap and white cardstocks whereby the white cardstocks are just normal paper which are not archival safe. Get them sat down in my scraproom, tell them before hand that we are going to make cards for daddy but they’ll have to listen to my instructions. Which normally they surely goes overboard in creating for they just love to use all my tools, especially the clear stamps.

Since brads will rust on my layout, so I let them play with it and they love it, especially love to punch holes on the flowers or paper then insert the brads in.

cards for daddy

Little Cal being so sentimental wanted to write so much in his card telling daddy that he misses him, he wanted him to get home very soon, he made card for him with flower and he’ll make more card later for mommy! So sweet, but I have to limit his words and hold his hand to write what he wanted.

As for little Mer, he is simpler, just write his name.

writing

Yes, I finally managed to guide the boys in creating two cards for their daddy and got them sent over to him in China. (Daddy, you should be able to get these cards in your mail, look out for them ya..)

As for the following night, I let them play with the scrap again, this time with more warning on not to mess around with my stamp pad. This time they play more on the clear stamp and sad to say I’ve lost one tiny leaf shape clear stamp *sigh*

cards for mommy

But looking at their creation, that tiny leaf stamp is nothing compare to the joy that they have while making those cards.

I bet they are going to ask for more craft session.

Scraproom

“Curiosity kill the cat”, that’s what happened to my two boys when I’m in the scraproom doing my scrapbook. They have been warned not to touch anything on my scrap table, but the instructions never got followed. Everytime when I’m in the scraproom, they’ll come to “visit” me or rather poking this and that, asking questions on what is this and that, or wanting to see this and that, but infact wanted to have a feel on its function.

I normally avoid having them around in the room for it is a disturbance to me while I work on my pages, another thing is they might just spoil my pattern paper or accidentally cut themselves with the iron ruler or cutter (it didnt’ happen though). So once they got in the room, in another 5 minutes, I’ll have to make myself out from the room and requesting them to do so too, meaning the end of my scrapping session. That is why I only do my scrapbook after they are sleeping or engage with playtime when their cousins on Sunday night.

I can see that the boys love craft from the things that they brought back from school, from the way little Cal kneat the i-clay and drawings, little Mer are so proud of what he did in school and always get angry if Cal ruin his creation. Well, basically kids just like craft, don’t they?

After reading a few articles about making craft or scrapbook with kids, I might just convert my old scraproom into one that the boys can join me while I work, well.. if I can (work), at least that will build up their interest in craft and arts, and maybe can engage them for some quiet time in the house. I don’t know.. shall I? I mean I’ll have to get some tools for them, kids’ safe tools, and papers and glue. Maybe I can start giving them those scrap that I have and letting them play with non archival materials at first. Let’s see if I can make space for them in the scraproom.

How I wish that I can have my internet broadband connection in the room too, so that I can surf at the same time and maybe take up a few online classes or online challenges in real time. I bet I’ll get myself a colour printer too, so that I can do some hybrid scrapbook layout. Again, that will require me to have a fix telephone line or maybe the right wireless broadband like Celcom, or do I have to have HDMI cables as well?

Okay, let’s just get back to reality and the more manageble task first, that is to change the room!

Communication booklet - 親职手冊

Little Cal got his communication booklet for the 3rd time this year. So there is another report on his performance for the last two months. He got all “優良” (excellent),  again this time, I’m so proud of him.
This time, he can recognized the characters: 山 (mountain), 花 (flower) , 草 (grass) , 樹 (tree) , 水 (water).
He was being taught how to appreciate the nature too. They did some planting and watering job in school, he even requested me to get ready pot, soil and seeds for him. Let’s see if he is a green finger, because I’ve asked my mom to get ready all the necessary things for him while he came back from school today.
He has also learnt not to pick flowers anywhere and pick up dried leaves. He sounds just a lovely kids in school.
The teacher just got one word for him (again): 好! (Good!).
I’m replying as: Thank you! Especially for your love and care. (Thanks Ms. Lo)
Well, so far that is the progress of my little Cal.
As for little Mer, he has been singing strange tune now a days, he is also getting expert in talking too. He knows how to use a lot of new vocabulary now. But still, others who are not famliar with him might not have a clue what he has said *LOL*  I’ve to chit chatting with him now, especially when he gives me funny answers. There were times when I ask how come he sweat so much, he just simply answered me saying ‘cos he has got lots of sweat. *LOL* (not even answering my question).
I’ve scrap about this (little Mer’s funny answers) and Cal’s sweet thought about his daddy missing us in this LO, which I’ve submitted to ScrappinKids May Darnest challenge. (well, I didn’t do a page about myself, but instead did a page about my boz=boss=boys)

Out and about

Today is National Scrapbook Day. It might not be an international event, but hey, who would mind. Happy Scrapbook Day!!

We have been busy body going out to view show houses yesterday in The New Platform. Not that we wanted to buy, we just want to see how is the condominium here look like, another thing is to get some inspiration for our house. The condominium still under construction and yet their show units are available on the 5th and 24th floor. The highest floor is 30th.

The cost: 2.5 million for 100 sq metres! This is a 3 rooms unit. The thing is it is near to the sea, overlooking the China custom, just next to the subway which will be ready by next year end. That’s why the price is high, huh!?

There, our little construction worker with his dad *LOL*

This is the view from the 24th floor overlooking another construction site. Behind is Shenzhen Bay. On the left of this photo is the China custom (can’t be seen).

Another construction site going on. All those empty land will be developed into high residential area.

The kitchen and dining area.

The living area.

A very contemporary design. Dad loves it and actually saying that it would be enough if our house it in that size. Dad oh dad, that would be too small for us all, especially during weekends when all the kids and grand-childrens are back. We’ll need a much bigger space, maybe at least 150 sq metres? *big grin*

We went to another one call Ocean City but was too late to view their show unit, but we have actually acquired the floor plan *grin*, so we can alter it and use it for our own house. Dad actually love the idea of having an empty space in the middle of the house so that we can have more windows in the room. Yes dad, I’ll put that into the plan later.

For those of you who are interested to build wooden house or would love to incorporate wood into your design, check out these gorgeous wood shutters.

Basic tools

There are several basic things or tools that I always use when I am doing my scrapbook, I always have glue or adhesive tape runner, photo trimmer, steel ruler, pencil, corner rounder and knife ready as I don’t have a board cutter. During those time I’ll be extra careful not to let the blade expose if I’m not using it, just in case little Cal or Mer came in to the room and mess around with it. So, whenever they are in the room, I’ll have to remember to put my knife away or at least can the blade inserted back to its original place. It is nice to see that there is actually something call safety knifes or safety cutters that can do that with a protector part that prevent accident. I’m seriously thinking of getting a knife that at least have the blade lock back when not in use.

The little girl call Hong Hong

clarinet taken from wikipediaThis little girl is the daughter of a dear friend of mine whom I’ve known since high school - Maggie. We went to the same club together - The Brass Band. We took up the same musical instrument - Clarinet.

Yes, I do know how to play the Clarinet but definitely can’t do it like Kenny G. Maggie is actually a year younger than me and it so happened that we stayed in the same village so we took the bus home together, walked home together but her house is nearer to the bus stop. She is a person that is very motivated, positive and she got this baby look face that made her look even younger than her age, especially with a small built (she is just over 5′).

Our kids go to the same swimming class together which by the way she was the one who introduced the instructor to me. So now we meet everyweek during the kids’ swimming class. Her cute little girl is just a little younger than little Mer. I took her picture last week during the swimming class, just couldn’t resist that cute giggle of her.

I told myself I had to scrap this photo that I’ve taken of her with that sweet face.
Giggle

Too bad that Maggie is always so engage with her work that she doesn’t even have the energy at the end of the day to get online, let alone checking her email. But anyway, she will be able to see this LO personally when I pass it to her this afternoon. Hope it will brighten up her day.

I’ve used pattern paper from Dream Street Papers (bought from Scrapbook Delights), HOTP and Creative Memories (a gift from Sandra), stickers from Sandylion’s “Giggle” (bought from 2peas), flowers from Prima “Got Flower”, and brads from HOTP personal shopper kit.

My desk last night

This was how my scrapbook table look like last night after I’ve done a page on “Before & After” for the kids (will past it up in The Daily). Messy as it is and I find that I’ve less and less space to work, have to clear it out.
