About work

Have been trying to catch up with my work statistics lately. We just had our auditor coming in for our MS ISO certification. Lots of paper work to do, lots of records to maintain. It wasn’t nerve cracking for me, luckily I get to go for my vacation even though we all were not suppose to take leave during those days, only certain unavoidable circumstances like me *wink*.

So I came back with lots of latest news about things happened in our department, changes that we need to make and surely more improvement and maybe some modification on our system. Not an easy job for everyone. It affect each one of us and our staff (including me) are getting frustrated about all the paper work that we need to do other than our everyday routine job.

As always, I’ve been dreaming to retire early. But when I seriously think about it, it seems impossible with all the liabilities that I’m having at the moment. The moment I stop working, I’ll loose my house which is still under installment till I’m 55! I’m still not financially free! Oh dear!

Being a stay-at-home mom is definitely a no to me at the moment, it is actually quite a tempting thing to do just like my friend Jewelle is enjoying now. I’m also not intending to change my job, forget about San Francisco jobs, but maybe I can do some part-time that I love like crafting. Some how my Etsy shop is not doing any sale *sigh*. But than, it was only for fun. So, let’s get back to more work in raising monthly statistics now.

Following the trend

Over here in Shenzen, most of the major shopping mall do not provide plastic bag unless upon request and they charge. That is a good sign. This big country really should have started this years ago. Imagine there are millions of people going into the mall to buy things and yet everyone bring back one plastic bag!

Major supermarket like Wall-Mart and branded departmental store are joining the environmental friendly action. Since they charge for plastic bags, most of the Chinese are bringing their own recycle bag. Most of them take it without complain.

In Hong Kong they are already in that direction, charging for plastic bag. I would love to see our county doing this rather than encouraging people using plastic bag which really do not decompose.

I’ve got a chance to shop last night in the Flower City Garden, a major shopping mall here in Shekou. Got myself some end of season sale clothes. A fruitful trip for me. After that we went into B&Q to check out some facet, sink and lights. Not that I’m going to renovate my house yet, just that it is good to know the price difference, however they don’t have much modern furniture there, else we would have spent more time in there.

It is more like a DIY shop with lots of things to choose from, wish there is one like this back home.

Talking about home, we are going home today, hoping for a smooth ride.

Being here

There are things that happen everyday over here and I’m really fed up with them, one is the boys are still fighting with each other and another one is Mer kept on asking me to read the same book over and over again! As for Cal, he always have this new idea of doing things and explore almost everything in the house, including moving the refill bottle of water which suppose to be very heavy for him!

The other thing that I don’t quite enjoy is cooking. Well, I love food, but I just don’t know to enjoy it now when I’m not familiar with the ingredients over here and where to find them. Another thing is I’m lacking of utensil over here. Oh well, probably this is a good way in loosing weight, since I’m occupied with the boys which I have to keep an eye on them every minute. As for food, mom’s cooking is still the best and I eat more at home, so I don’t think I need diet pills over here to loose weight at all!

I miss home and yet love to be here with my hubby .. 0_o

Almost

Ya.. tomorrow will be it. I might not be able to load any photo here starting tomorrow till end of the month. Hubby said his notebook got virus and it is not advisable to connect my digicam there. *sign*

I’ll be missing all my scrapbooking and craft. I’ve just read a book about making bags, buoy they are so beautiful and I thought to myself, “hey, I could make some of these…” But then it will just have to be when I’m back here, then only I can start looking for the suitable clothes, or maybe I can start looking while I am over in China, will see.

Like usual, I still haven’t pack. I’ve started, but not fully pack yet. The luggage is fill with stuff like milk formula for the kids, hubby spirulina cereal, some clothes and that’s it. There are still lots to put in, like my must 3-step facial care, my toothbrush, sensodym toothpaste and maybe a scrapbook magazine to cure my boredom.

Adios.. oh well.. not really.. I’m sure I’ll still be online even tomorrow *Grin*.

Do I really?

“You know what? I thought I saw you the other night in a pub!”

I do believe that I have 6 other almost the same faces around the globe, be it in different age, place or time. But it was a surprise for me when my colleague told me this years ago. He even said that he almost approach “me”!

I’ve also got friends telling me that I look like certain people, some from Chinese TV series!
To me, if a total stranger came up to me and said “You look exactly like my friend.” I will just look at him and smirk, then turn around and probably go to my friends, if that is a guy. If that is a woman, I may answer and start talking to her. But to use that as a pick up line, I would think that it is very lame.

Still later on, I would start thinking if that is something to do with my hair style. I may start to think that I’ll change my hairstyle to victory Hair
There is actually an online site that offer you to Extreme Style by VO5.

This thing doesn’t happen now a days. No one come up to me and chat me up or start with any pick-up line that I can remember, probably to have some fun, I’ll play that Ultimate Flirting Championship later.

But do I really look like someone else? Most of the time, those Chinese TV series player doesn’t a bit look like me! They are more glamorous or sassy. I’m just one simple mom to two boys. I start to think I don’t need to change my hair style just because someone told me I look like someone else. I would change if I feel it would suits me better.

Traveling again

All of us (me and two sons) will be going off to visit hubby again this Thursday. Yippy yay! Well, and also, “oh no!” because I’ll surely be having headache when taking off and landing. I don’t like that feeling, it is like my head is going to explode anytime. I just hope that the boys will be fine and they’ll stay put in their seat, take their mean onboard and stay quiet along the journey. Little Mer has been very loud lately. When we were over to my in-law’s place, our house is the noisiet! The whole village can hear us!

Mer is the little one, and yet he got the loudest voice. He’ll be grumpy if things that he wants cannot be met, or his big brother is bullying him. I just wish that he can talk softer or just be quiet abit. I don’t remember that he was that loud when he was a baby. He just love being in his cradle that my mom love to put him inside. He used to sleep in there. I actually love to watch him sleep, so peaceful.
Mer sleeping

I do have crib bedding for him while he slept there at night and he loves to look at those animal prints. I’m still using the crib bedding now a day to prevent him from bumping his head on the bed side.

Well, traveling time is near and I got to prepare things for the boys, their clothes, milk, and overall preparing them for travel. As for China VISA, we can stay up to 15 days when we go in. That is still alright for us as we won’t stay that long. Hoping to do some shopping this time especially getting some clothes for the boys, they have out grown their pants!

Sew, sew, sew

A really crazy weekend for me. I tried to finished off two ruffle skirts! And I did!

I saw this nice ruffle skirt pattern online that I can copy and do a bit of sewing using this old Singer sewing machine that I borrowed from my sister. It is old, but still functioning pretty well. It is being converted into electrical sewing machine by my clever uncle.
Singer sewing machine

First one I did was the exact pattern or size from online. I thought to myself I can make this for my niece, but it turns out that it is too small for her, it can only fit maybe 3 to 4 year old little girl. Luckily I’ve bought some other pattern cotton clothes with 10% from Home & Garden as they are having this closing down sale. They are still expensive though. I didn’t know cotton clothes can be this expensive, the price range from RM32 - RM47 per metre! Never the less, I still bought extra, just love the simple pattern. So I’ve made another 2nd ruffle skirt and this time is really for my niece and I make sure that it fits her. *Grin*
ruffle skirt - 1st
This is the first ruffle skirt I made with lots of err.. mistakes .. and I’m not so good in sewing .. so it is not perfect.

2nd ruffle skirt
This one is for my niece but discovered that the 2nd tier is just too long, so I’ve altered it and let the white colour pattern stays on top. So it becomes:

So this is the final product. By the time I’m done with it, my sis and family were all gone home, so no chance to let my niece bring it back last night. Oh well, she can always have it when they come to visit again on Sunday.

Mom actually teasing me that I’m making skirt for my unborn daughter like she is going to arrive today *LOL* Once I got started with it, I just couldn’t stop. I just had to finished it and show it to my sister *Grin*.

So there, my not so first project of sewing, ‘cos I’ve done an apron before, even that also with old machine and lousy sewing skill. I’m still thinking if I should get an Epal sewing machine which comes with free classes for a year!

Bike accident

The boys are still eager to ride on their bike. Little Mer still ask if he can ride his bike early in the morning!

I was actually teasing him that he and Cal had a road accident and need an adjuster to solve their case together with the traffic police. Surely he doesn’t understand what I mean by adjuster but he knows what is a policeman. When I ask if it is okay to let the police take Cal away since he was the one who bumped into his bike, he was strongly against it. I was so glad to hear that. At least it let me know that eventhough they have been fighting most of the time, he still prefer his brother around. I guess it is really natural that “blood thicker than water” huh!?

I bet he’ll ask me not to park my car in the front area again later. Talking about accident, well, if you wanted to compare auto insurance quotes, do check it out here.

Songs and many more

“When I look at you, and I know it’s gonna be… a lovely day… (lovely day, lovely day ..)”

*LOL* Both me and little Cal love this song that came up in the TV commercial. He then ask me to sing along with him, especially as the back-up singer. This was exactly what happened years ago between me and a friend whom I met in UK during my study years. Both of us would keep on singing “lovely day” and one will drag on and see how much longer can we sing, it was fun!

Only just this morning, Lite FM were playing “Don’t forget the word” and the song goes “Get out of my dreams! And get into my car!” It was another song that I had my radio in top volumn. There are so many nice songs in Lite FM, maybe it shows how old I am, but really, those were the songs that accompanied me all this while and I start to fall in love with Lite FM *LOL*.

At the moment, I’m getting myself busy uploading my scrapbook layout to Memorable Seasons’ online gallery hoping that I’ll get pick to be in their designer team for September. It is just fun to play with free kits, isn’t it? I’m also trying out challenges online that offer random acts of kindness (RAK) or with gift! On the other hand, I’m also busy trying to get some more stamps for my card business in Etsy. I hope to get more sales and add up my Paypal account to get more scrapbook things, it is really a cycle, isn’t it? And surely hope there is no balance transfer to be done in my credit card!

Lawyer “buruk”

We always nick name Cal as lawyer buruk as he always has lots of reasoning to do whenever we question him on what is he doing or what was he trying to do with his little brother. He is one curious little kid that have hight observation power and fine motor skill. He is always in the look out for new things, new adventure and some times do things that we don’t allow such as playing with the bail of water outside that my parents use to wash the vegetable for sell. Other time he play Ultraman mimic game with the little brother with his side-kick and punches!
When we get down to ask him what is he doing, he’ll goes like “We are just playing.” or “I’m Ultraman, Ultraman can do …” Other time when there are things that he is not allow to touch, he’ll goes like “Mommy, can you please open this and let me see? I just want to see.”
Well, will all his reasoning skill, some times it is funny to look at how he react on certain thing and certain people especially my dad, as Cal is afraid of my dad more than anyone else in the house. Maybe one day he is really going to be a lawyer, who knows he can get involve and get a job as truck accident lawyer. We’ll never know what could happen.
