Going to the dentist

This morning, little Mer went to the dentist to have his teeth checked and did some filling. This is the first time ever that he steps into a dental clinic. He has been a very brave boy and been very good boy. Quite all through the process and nodding while being ask if he is okay. The dentist has been very kind to him, explaining to him what he is going to do with his teeth, what are the equipment that he is going to use and also what do the equiment can do. The dentist also advising me and him not to go to bed straight after milk, but have to clean his teeth before bed.

I’ve been reading to both Mer and Cal about going to dentist, they love the book “Harry and the dynasours say Rahhhh…”. Since I discovered that there seems to be a hole in Mer’s molar, I’ve been telling him that he’ll need to go to the dentist one day, he starts bugging me about that and eagerly wanted to go there to have his teeth check!

The dentist discovered that he actually has a few holes that need to be filled, mostly due to the residue of milk on his teeth. He gets this because he normally have milk right before bed time and sometimes he went to sleep with the bottle still on his mouth! Really bad habit, what more he woke up for milk sometimes in the middle of the night and straight went back to sleep after that. So the advice now is to have him clean his teeth before bed and let him have some water after the mid-night feed (which he can skip).

Seeing here is the dentist explaining to Mer what the equipment can do.

Here the dentist clean his teeth thoroughly before the filling.

Mer didn’t even jolt a bit when the drill is on his teeth! What a sweety and brave boy. Since there are still some other area that need to be filled up, we’ll need to go back again. I wonder what he’ll tell Cal tonight.

“Server” down

Had been quiet in my blog due to my own server, I mean this body of mine was on strike! It didn’t function as it should be, maybe I have been treating it badly with late night sleep, no exercise and maybe just too much meat.

I was down for a few days, the worst was Tuesday, I basically spent my whole day laying in bed feeding myself with only porridge, some oat meal and plenty of water. But I still ended up with dried chipped lips!

Chronogically, Monday went for Doctor’s appointment as mentioned in the earlier post. The trouble began on that afternoon. Feeling wick, no appetite, need to just lay down, no energy to talk.

Tuesday, I slept the whole day, ate only some porridge, oat meal and water. Finally managed to get myself to see doctor in the late afternoon. Brought home some pain killers, flu medicine and anti-vomit medicine, plus 3 days medical leave. Had an early night.

Wednesday, was feeling much better and can even brought my mom to the salon to have her hair permed and I got myself a hair wash! *grin*.

Thursday was Cal’s school annual sport day. Already planned for taking half day off. Little Mer tag along. Nothing much, Cal only involved with the marching which every kids are in, then he was in one of the game to match things up on a made-up tree. That’s it! But I wasn’t feeling well then and went home barely with any energy, struggling to drive home too.

Fortunately mom gave me some miracle. It is something call 熊膽皮 (xiong dan pi), a kind of dried fruits, taken after letting it difused in hot water. If your body is hot (or in Chinese term - heaty), then it will taste like plain water, else it will very bitter. I drank a cup of it without sweat, as it just tasted like plain water! But an hour later when I drank it again, buoy! I was really bitter that I can’t even finish half a cup! I can imagine how hot my body was at that time. I let Cal drank some too and he too said that it just tasted like plain water! I better becareful on things to give him, he always needs lots of water.

After that miracle drinks, I was fine and even feel hungry! Which is a good sign. Came Friday, I drag myself up and got ready to work. I was lazy then after resting so many days at home.

Wasn’t a good day

I’ve actually got an MC this morning from the doctor. I’m still feeling heavy head and bones with slight fever.

This morning was my doctor’s appointment in QE for the ENT department to check on my nose. The specialist has told me lots of things, some of which I don’t get what she meant, too many jargon. Anyway, all I know is that I need to have regular exercise, have my medicine, nostril pump and “nose wash”! She specifically reminded me not to use cold water to wash my face early in the morning and it is better to have some exercise in the morning before brushing my teeth. Mom has been telling me not to use cold water, this stubborn daughter just don’t listen! So now I’ve learnt my lesson.

I absolutely hate it when she inserted a long wire which contain a tiny camera into my nostril! Yaik! It hurts and feel really uncomfortable.

The ENT (probably stand for eye, ear and throut) is situated on the 2nd floor of the new block of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, connected right at the end of the overhead bridge from the car park. They have just moved over there a month ago. Everything seems so new, the air-con is cold, the floor is slippery, the toilet is squeky clean and there are still some renovation going on. They use peach as their color scheme which I though it is better than just the normal green or blue which normally used for hospital door panel.

There wasn’t a lot of people, infact quite few and I don’t need to wait long for my que, about half an hour. However the pharmacy is still situated at the old block at the back of the blood bank. But they do have a good system now that there wasn’t a long que for it and they all seems friendly and professional. I’m actually impressed!

After visiting the hospital, it makes me realised just how important to have a healthy body. I saw one middle age man, probably in his late 50, took one big bag of medicine supply for 2 months! It contains almost everything for diabetic, high blood pressure, cholesterol, vitamins, pain killers! Lucky me that I only need to take a 2 months supply and will need to go back there for review in two months time.

At the moment, let’s make it a habit to wash my face with warm water and do regular exercise.

Photos from Kuching trip

This is going to be full with photos, I’ll try to put in those relevant and beautiful one (I hope). Before that let me share something first. I had really bad headache when the plane was landing, really terrible one. It happens twice on both ways. Probably due to my block nose but it never happened before, not this bad. What came into my mind is that what if I just explode on plane, blood vessel broke? I would have just die there? Anyway, am totally safe now and hope my next trip to China will not have this experience again. I don’t think I’ve bought any travel insurance for this trip, not like when we went to Australia years ago. Probably an extra medicare insurance would help.

Enough of that worry, let’s start the photos from the first day of visit.

View from the hotel, overlooking the Parliment House which is still under construction. At night it looks like one of the tower in “Lord of the Ring”, those Gothic style house.

Window view from Hilton

View of Sarawak River from Waterfront. It has a very nice shaded walk-way.

Waterfront

The look of the street full with old structures and with Chinese look.

Then we walked all the way to India Street which the taxi stand is right at the end of the street. That’s where we got our taxi to UNIMAS on the first day.

India Street

This is how it looks like from the taxi stand. I like the direction plate.

End of India Street

End of photos sharing..

Sleepness night

After a night struggling with two unwell boys, I am not sure if I did get more than 3 hours sleep. One with itchy skin and eventually wet his bed, and one with fever and specific demand on how to put on his blanket. I had to wake up several times to put on talcum powder and cream on little Cal’s skin, on top of that keep on reminding him not to use his nail to scratch. As for little Mer, I had to wake up in checking him if his fever still there, if he have sweat, if he needed water, if he is being covered properly with his blanket. On top of that I had to change Cal for he wet his bed and put his bedsheet, blanket and clothes into the washing machine as the machine take quite some times to finish one cycle and I’m afraid his blanket won’t dry in time.

So, here I am with my panda eyes bringing little Mer to see Dr. Liau in SMC. Got his professional opinion with RM50 without any prescription as he doesn’t need medication. All he needs is lots and lots of liquid, relinquish him with some salt (100plus would do that) and let him pass motion else he’ll complain to have a bloaded stomach. With RM50 I’ve bought a pieace of mind. Dr. Liau also mentioned that it is contagious, so I let him stay at home with my mom upon Mer’s request. He is jolly happy to reach home and seeing that he is sort of back to the normal self, I’m not that worry anymore. Just pray that he’ll recover fully today and start fighting again with his brother over toys.

I wish there were someone else to help me out last night, be it making the milk, checking Mer’s temperature, changing Cal’s clothes, put the clothes into the washing machine or simply just be there and support mentally and physically, I wish hubby is around… so that I can punch punch him when I’m stressed. *grin*

My health condition

Just had my blood pressure measure with a self-help machine, small and handy, just need two AAA batteries. The result? 113/69. As for weight, I’m 56 kg. I thought I have loose some weight after the trip, but I stay the same *grin*.

56kg to me is still a little big lighter than I want, I should be 58 kg to look a bit chubby. As for now, I don’t need these diet pills reviews . It is good for those who needed a diet though. To me, I’ll go for exercise and maintain a good diet rather than going for the pill. Maybe the diet pills are for those who are obese and really  hard to get rid of their fat.

My heart beat is no so ideal, is it higher than 75 which indicating that I’m having a weak heart, really need to start doing those brisk walk.

The health centre

Still here, my one hour is not up yet, so might as well write another post before I’m disconnected from the net.
I’m sharing a room with my colleague who runs on the machine almost everyday. So I’ve promised her to check out the health centre here (Seafest Hotel). They got a few machine including those weight machine, but there doesn’t seems a lot of people using them. Right before we came down last night, there were a man there but he doesn’t look like a body builder for us, which obviously are not taking bodybuilding supplements, so we are really not going to embarrase ourselves if we would to use the machines here. However, I don’t have my running shoes and extra clothes for exercise, so Mary is the only one using the health centre last night. All hers *LOL*
As for me, I was trying to get myself connected to the Net by using my handphone, but the line connection here is very low, sometimes down to zero. I really wish it could be better so that I can talk to my boys longer. I wonder if they miss their mommy..

Away in Semporna

Am here, really here in Seafest Hotel of Semporna accessing the Net using their business centre’s internet service. I wasn’t happy with the speed though, because they are charging RM8.40 an hour! And it is not even broadband. But at least I’m connected and am surfing away. I noly allow myself an hour on this. So let’s just make things fast here.

I’ve a complain now so far, that is: I need a massage therapy! I can feel that my head is heavy probably due to the new bed that I’m not used to it and I hope tonight I can sleep better since it is the second night now. I wish they are offering massage service here. But what do you expect? They even charge for their health centre. RM5.50 per session! And this business centre only open till 5 pm.!!
As for tomorrow, we’ll be going to the Mabul Island! Yay!! I hope the weather is fine and no storm, else we’ll have to cancel our trip.

My figure

I’m still not sure, am I loosing weight again? Over the weekend when I attended a wedding banquet and in church, people been telling or rather asking me “Hey, you seems to have lost some weight.”

Am I? I really don’t know, my clothes still fit, I still look the same to me in the mirror and I haven’t been weighting myself, sorry, I don’t have the machine at home.  Some of them maybe wondering if I’m on a diet in loosing weight. NO! Of course not! Fortunately they didn’t ask if I’m on weight loss pills. I know some people do go for that for health reason. Just recently our Health Ministry just showed their fear that over 50% of our fellow Malaysian could be overweight!

Obesity really can caused health problem such as diabetes. I am not saying that slim people won’t have that problem but research found out that the percentage is higher for overweight people. But if you really need to go for medication in loosing weight, please choose a reliable one that doesn’t cause any problem for your liver and kidney.

Detoxification

I know there is this product from direct sales that claim to be able to detoxify our body, some are by cleansing it using condense yogurt product. To tell you the truth, I’ve tried that before and it works for me but having to go to the toilet several times a day isn’t a fun thing to do. I’ve also tried those that use tablets that contain high fibre to help with my bowel movement, it works too and I tell you, for the first few days I’ve been farting, real smelly ones. Luckily I wasn’t being assigned to do my work outside of my office, I mean I’m constrained in my own office, so I were the only person who knew about the smelly gas.
There is another one that I found online that offer colon cleanse. I’ve been hearing testimonies from people who had been using detoxifying products before, they claim that they have better bowel movement after that and also a better skin tone.
However, these things doesn’t really works for my sister who had been having this problem for ages, and most probably she is immune to all these products, or her stomach is plain stubborn. I just hope that she have a happy big business every morning.
