Following the trend

Over here in Shenzen, most of the major shopping mall do not provide plastic bag unless upon request and they charge. That is a good sign. This big country really should have started this years ago. Imagine there are millions of people going into the mall to buy things and yet everyone bring back one plastic bag!

Major supermarket like Wall-Mart and branded departmental store are joining the environmental friendly action. Since they charge for plastic bags, most of the Chinese are bringing their own recycle bag. Most of them take it without complain.

In Hong Kong they are already in that direction, charging for plastic bag. I would love to see our county doing this rather than encouraging people using plastic bag which really do not decompose.

I’ve got a chance to shop last night in the Flower City Garden, a major shopping mall here in Shekou. Got myself some end of season sale clothes. A fruitful trip for me. After that we went into B&Q to check out some facet, sink and lights. Not that I’m going to renovate my house yet, just that it is good to know the price difference, however they don’t have much modern furniture there, else we would have spent more time in there.

It is more like a DIY shop with lots of things to choose from, wish there is one like this back home.

Talking about home, we are going home today, hoping for a smooth ride.

Flower in bloom

Just the other morning my mom shouted and annouced of her new discovery. “The flowers are blooming!!”
What flower can make my mom got so excited? I quickly got out from my bed, walk towards where she pointed and saw these:
Dragon fruit's flower
These are dragon fruit’s flowers!
No wonder why she got so excited. It means pretty soon we all can have its fruit! As always, her favourite grandson (little Mer) loves dragon fruits, so she also got excited. Hopefully we will see more of that and have plenty to eat!
It is actually a very good fruits, some even says that they are good as acne treatments!

Shocking news

I’ve always been thinking that Singapore is a very safe place, it is like believing that the crime rate is zero over there. To me it is clean, not so hot to walk down Orchard Road, city full of greens and it is basically safe to go anywhere. But it got a shock out of me when hubby called from Singapore just now telling me he got muck last night, hit on the face and was unconscious for don’t know how long till 4am awaken by cleaner. Found himself on a foreign bus stop far away from his hotel and the last place that he visited.

After launching a police report and since he has scare on his face, the police had to put him on medical check with drip, so he has been laying in the hospital bed for an hour. The wost is he can’t remember what happened when he passed out. He has lost his cash, fortunately his credit card and ATM are still intack except one foreign bank card.

I’m not sure where he stay, even if he tells me I’ll still not sure where about is that. Just thank God that he is safe and not badly injured.

On another account, my beautician just called up reminding me about my monthly facial appointment, which by the way for this month I’ll be getting some major discount as it is my birthday month, yay! So far I don’t have any pimple on my face, but she does have some recommended acne cream for my just in case situation *wink*

TGIF

Thank God it is Friday and thank God that little Mer has recovered from fever and have been feeling jolly good last night. He is still a bit grumpy when I sent him to school though and I’m sure he lie about teaching scolding him, for he just want to get my attention. Lying is a natural stage for him right now as he’ll try all means to get my attention and gets what he wants. So I left him while he was still crying this morning.

As for yesterday, something amazing showed up in the sky. It was drizzling when I left my office and I was greeted by one whole rainbow! Yes, not little bit, not half, but one full rainbow! It is indeed a rare scene for me but it didn’t last long because it is late in the evening. Wish I could take a better photo but it was late and I don’t want to be out there with my umbrella and pointing my camera to the sky, some people might think I’m stressed out and getting nuts.
full rainbow

As for today, I’ve one challenge that I wanted to submit to Coconut ScrapShop forum, but I still left the journal part, so I’ve brought the layout together with my ink pad, journal tag and glue to the office. Hoping to do it over lunch hour, so that I can snap it and post it up later. I’ll be posting it in my other blog - “The Daily”.

At the mean time, I wanted to get another scrapbook album by American Craft, probably from Scrap-n-Crop, else my layout will be all laying inside a box again. Let’s hope that I can do all that over lunch hour when everyone will not be using the network. *grin*

I’m also trying to get some friends to join me in dong scrapbook, including this friend of mine who has bought some scrapping materials and yet didn’t start a page! Last Sunday, we went over to her place to listen to a “beauty talk” by Mary Kay’s beauty consultant. But what caught my eyes was the interiour decoration of her home. So questions of who pick all the materials came up, and she reveals that she did all the choosing part, every little things from the color of the wall to the light fixtures. However there are a few things that her hubby chose which she was complaining as they seems out of place and she doesn’t like the color. It took her quite some times to get used to them. Probably I’ll be facing this kind of problem when I do renovate my house or I might be the lazy one and let hubby do all the choosing part including budgeting. However, I’m telling myself I’ll definitely include a space for my scraproom or scrap area with good lighting and enough store area for all the papers, embellishments and albums. At the mean time I’ll just have to work in my old shaddy scraproom.

Lazy to clean?

It is confirmed, it is just a rumor, so no worry about no fuel for the next few days, no worry about cannot use the car to work or sending the kids *grin* In another word also meaning no excuses for not going to work *bigger grin*

About another thing, on cleaning. I’m one person who cannot stand dirt or dust in the house but then I’m also one lazy lass who try all means to clean the house. In my mom’s place, it is much easier to maintain. It is an old house, no carpet and we all wear our sandals in the house. The dogs can come in easily if the small gate is open. And guess what I do if there are food on the floor that the kids spilled. I call the dog in *LOL* Even my two boys also know how to do that, they’ll go “gobbiieeee……” (that’s how we call our dogs at home). One way they got fed, another is the floor will be cleared of food.

Well, I still remind my boys not to spill their food as this will attract ants in the house which I don’t want. But at least I’m not so worry if they really do spilled their food on the floor. Call me lazy, but if you are like me, who are lazy to do cleaning or vacuuming around the house, try Dirt Devil. It has has a better way to save energy. The new AccuCharge Stick Vac and Hand Vac use 70% less energy – making AccuCharge the first cordless cleaning technology to earn Energy Star approval. While you are cleaning, you are going green with it as it is an reduce energy consumption.

If I have a house with carpet, I’ll surely going to try this Dirt Devil.

The attack and fuel raise

This morning, everyone is asking me “Did you fill up petrol last night?” *LOL* Yes I did, I join in the crazy line since my fuel is almost empty, fortunately I was only 5 cars away from the pump, so I was alright. My two boys keep on noticing those big trucks beside us as they were going for the diesel pump.

Later that night, I heard from my sis that there were still people queing for petrol late at night! This is actually the highest increase in fuel prices so far. From RM1.92 per litre to RM2.70 per litre, a 40% raise!

Last night, this was what happened to Cal after the attack of the Aliens Vs Predator:

Photobucket
Alien vs Predator is the name for Donut which full of chocolate (yummy) in Big Apple

On another account, I just found out that Great Eastern forgot to send renewal notice to us for the house insurance. So now we’ll have to get a new quotation and it can only be valid after hubby sign it next week. Goodness, I better do a reminder for myself on my car insurance, else I’ll need to do a new auto insurance quote next time.

OH ya, today is Environmental Day (heard from MyFM this morning), so, grab those bags and start BYOB.

What kind of bathroom

I don’t know what you all think about bathroom, to me I know that I want a bathroom that is not wet all around. I don’t like the feel of getting into a toilet with attached bathroom which is wet. I don’t like the feel of sitting on the toilet bowl and yet my feet are wet. I just don’t like that feeling. When I shared about this with my mom, my sisters and colleague, they all prefer a dry one. But one thing for sure is, these are all coming from women’s point of view. I don’t know how a guy feels about it. Especially my brother. We almost had an argument over this.

safety tubTalking about bathroom, I’m actually afraid of using bathtub, especially those slippery ones. I’ll make sure that I stand firm or sit, or there is a rubber mat on it. What if when I grow old huh?

Do not worry, there is this walk in bathtubs available which are available in so many different sizes*LOL*  Yup, it is even good for join problem because you can install water massage system as well. So, who is afraid of getting old and not able to enjoy bath time? I’ll just get old gracefully *wink*

Room to Read

Have just read an article “It began with books” in Newsweek (April 7, 2008), pg.10. So amazed by the will power of  John Wood who gave up “the world’s best-known companies to start an organization that had zero brand recognition and no capital.” He has started “Room to Read” in 1998 after a discovery in the mountainous Nepal.

A admire such a spirit person and he is doing amazingly successful for that cause. So far they have opened 444 schools, and will be at 700 by the end of this year. They’ve also opened 5,100 bilingual libraries and have 4,ooo girls in the long-term scholarship program! Isn’t it amazing?

Bloggers unite for Human Rights!

Yup, it is today!

Bloggers UniteLet me share what is Bloggers Unite here: “Bloggers Unite is an initiative designed to harness the power of the blogosphere to make the world a better place. By challenging bloggers to blog about a particular social cause on a single day, a single voice can be joined with thousands of others to help make a real positive difference; from raising awareness for cancer, to an effort to better education systems or support 3rd world countries.” - picked from Bloggers Unite.

As for today, we unite for Human Rights! There are so much to talk about on this issue actually, but I don’t know where to start. One thing I forsure can talk about is my experience in using the internet over in China. They totally block blogsites, doesn’t matter if you are using blogspot, wordpress or typepad, I’m sure you won’t be able to view those sites. Fortunately this site of mine still working over there. This is implying that they doesn’t have much speech freedom. A simple blog like this also not being allowed over there, might more if you think about other issue?

Well, just trying to raise awareness on the human right issues around the world, if you would like to read more and see what action that we all can take, go visit Bloggers Unite.
