Damn cold

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Been to the Gallery of University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) this morning for the “Bicara Sejarah: Institusi Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sabah”. Co-organised by UMS and National Archive (Sabah Branch).

History, a lesson that we all should learn from and an interesting topic to look at especially if it is related to politics. In the panel include two former State’s Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Simon Sipaun and YB Datuk K.Y. Mustafa. They gave out their precious personal experience and opinion about our constituency the TYT during their course of services. Some interesting facts were being shared includes the changes of the State Anthem “Sabah Tanah Air Ku”.

I was trying to concentrate in that low degree of temperature UMS freely giving out from their central air-con. As usual, I didn’t wear my baju kurung and I was in my office suits and court shoes. I went to the toilet twice due to the cold and told myself “Hey, UMS is not environmental friendly having this air-con in full blast and definitely more than less then 24 degree Celsius.”

At the end of the session, I hardly can feel my nose and basically shivering inside out. I was wondering if only I was in long skirt, or maybe I might just need a pair of UGG Mayfaire boot *LOL*.

Buzz off smoker

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

I hate smoker, I announce it publicly. I hate to see them while I’m having my food, while I shop, while I walk from my parking lot to the shopping complex, I just don’t like the smell of smoke. But my brother is a smoker, how can I hate him?

My boys were very noisy last night before getting to bed and my brother need an early night because he needs to drive a long way to work (Kota Belud) and since the two boys were whining and playing loudly, he can’t sleep and what he did while being frustrated is to watch TV in the living room. Then he smoke, in the house!

Mer goes “Mommy, what is that smell? Yee.. smelly oh!!” Ya.. is your uncle smoking outside, then he goes “Bad uncle!! Stop smoking!”

Ops, I was thinking I hope that doesn’t pissed him off but secretly hoping that he get the message and stop smoking. Really, why people go into smoking? First it is bad for your health; second, it is bad for your breath; third it is bad for your skin (you’ll get dry skin); and lastly (on those that I can think of), bad for those around them, they’ll be the second hand smoker which could be worst than the smoker themselves.

I ever saw those teenager in their school uniform smoke just outside of the library and on the staircase in Centre Point. I quickly walked passed them and sometimes I gave them the stares, hope they’ll just stop right away, but no, they continue, which is so sad.

If you are a smoker, go get yourself a smoker life insurance to have your life protected with your love one in mind. I know those insurance that I’ve bought doesn’t cover for that and it will be more expensive for smoker. So, stop smoking today!!

Diet

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Have you ever wonder how much does a diet pill cost? Or maybe you are more concern on its effect on your health, or whether it is effective?

Have been hearing lots about slimming program like loosing weight without exercise, cutting fat or calories by just consuming some diet product and body wrapping (whatever that means). It is a bit paranoid when comes to diet pill after hearing the news about a woman’s liver being damage due to diet pills that is not being approved by the health ministry.

To me, the most important thing is to eat healthily, have regular exercise (which I obviously didn’t follow) and being healthy mentally. I do believe that eating moderately is way better than starving. I also believe that if you stop worrying about every calorie that you take, you’ll have a happier life.

Red wine anyone?

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

I always think that when you are having a meal and you have wine together with it, it will enhance the taste of whatever that you are having. Bear in mind that you should mix white meat with white wine and red meat with red wine. Not sure where I learnt that, but it is true. Red wine does go well more with red meat such as beef or lamb. White wine is for poultry and fish.

There is this site that is offering more information about the wine that they have, check out wine of the month club, and I’m sure you’ll find lots of interesting information there.

Remember, a little wine a day also good for your health. Happy weekend!

What is killing me

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

nasal sprayWent to get my monthly supply of nasal spray, ehem, actually it is call Butacort 50 aqueous, whatever that means. I had to walk miles away in order to get there from the official parking lot. I said official because there are some that just simply park on the island or the side walk. I’m glad I didn’t do that because I saw an officer giving out samanafter I got my nasal spray. And those stairs from the car park are so damn steep! I’m wearing an almost 3 inches high Charles & Keith today! Now I’m having blister on my toe *so sad*.

How I wish I’m wearing my Hush Puppies pump today, but it just doesn’t go well with a Punjabi dress huh!? Well, I normally don’t wear high heels, they just kill my legs. To me high heels are not for working or walking, they are more for dinner and special occasion whereby you can just sit there and pretend pretty *LOL*. I definitely don’t wear high heels on my vacation too! A BIG NO! If I’m in them, I would get no where and only be sitting during the vacation. I would prefer sport shoes or just flat comfy shoes.

Talking about vacation, for those who are interested to rent a vacation home, try Outer Banks, it got so much to offer.

Over the holiday

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Can’t believe that I didn’t blog even when I can get online 24 hours in my in-laws’ place! I did get online, checking on stuff here and there, reading others’ blogs, checking out scrapbook forums and gallery, join their crop session and challenges, making some Christmas cards and most of all I’ve been spending time with my family though I get online. Mostly online time and scrapbook time is after the boys are sleeping or they are occupy with their own activities or toys.

Life is good having holidays, even better with hubby around, at least I don’t need to drive! *grin*

The boys especially Mer still grumpy as ever, very demanding and loud!! We went to Parkson Grand yesterday, they were running around, screaming and talking so loud that they voices were all over the whole shop! But they were really having fun, at least they didn’t fight. Other time when they are at home like now, Cal likes to get on Mer’s nerve intentionally, so Mer is the one who always scream and cry. Thank God that I don’t have any blood pressure problem, else I might just need to monitor my blood pressure everyday like this  blood pressure monitor can do.

Going to the dentist

Friday, September 5th, 2008

This morning, little Mer went to the dentist to have his teeth checked and did some filling. This is the first time ever that he steps into a dental clinic. He has been a very brave boy and been very good boy. Quite all through the process and nodding while being ask if he is okay. The dentist has been very kind to him, explaining to him what he is going to do with his teeth, what are the equipment that he is going to use and also what do the equipments can do. The dentist also advising me and him not to go to bed straight after milk, but have to clean his teeth before bed.

I’ve been reading to both Mer and Cal about going to dentist, they love the book “Harry and the dinosaurs say Rahhhh…”. Since I discovered that there seems to be a hole in Mer’s molar, I’ve been telling him that he’ll need to go to the dentist one day, he started bugging me about that and eagerly wanted to go there to have his teeth check!

The dentist discovered that he actually has a few holes that need to be filled, mostly due to the residue of milk on his teeth. He gets this because he normally have milk right before bed time and sometimes he went to sleep with the bottle still on his mouth! Really bad habit, what more he woke up for milk sometimes in the middle of the night and straight went back to sleep after that. So the advice now is to have him clean his teeth before bed and let him have some water after the mid-night feed (which he can skip).

Seeing here is the dentist explaining to Mer what the equipment can do.

Here the dentist clean his teeth thoroughly before the filling.

Mer didn’t even jolt a bit when the drill is on his teeth! What a sweetie and brave boy. Since there are still some other area that need to be filled up, we’ll need to go back again. I wonder what he’ll tell Cal tonight.

Development of Cal’s feelings

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

First thing when Cal woke up this morning is to ask where will his little brother be today. After hearing that I’ll bring little Mer to the babysitter, he straight jumped on his feet and run to the car, sat there till I say that he can follow.

I suppose Cal knows of the feelings of loneliness now that he wanted to stay with his brother no matter what and no matter where. After a day at home with his brother, I think he likes it and wanted to stick to each other. It is a good news to me ‘cos he wanted to be with the brother but after a long day at home with my two boys, my mom was exhausted and worst is she didn’t catch any sleep. So today I’m letting the idea off and have sent little Mer to babysitter’s place.

After much persuasion and bribe with goodies, finally Cal agree to stay at home with my parents. Fortunately there wasn’t much whining from Mer on the way to babysitter.

My health condition

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Just had my blood pressure measure with a self-help machine, small and handy, just need two AAA batteries. The result? 113/69. As for weight, I’m 56 kg. I thought I have loose some weight after the trip, but I stay the same *grin*.

56kg to me is still a little big lighter than I want, I should be 58 kg to look a bit chubby. As for now, I don’t need these diet pills reviews . It is good for those who needed a diet though. To me, I’ll go for exercise and maintain a good diet rather than going for the pill. Maybe the diet pills are for those who are obese and really hard to get rid of their fat.My heart beat is no so ideal, is it higher than 75 which indicating that I’m having a weak heart, really need to start doing those brisk walk.

The health centre

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Still here, my one hour is not up yet, so might as well write another post before I’m disconnected from the net.

I’m sharing a room with my colleague who runs on the machine almost everyday. So I’ve promised her to check out the health centre here (Seafest Hotel). They got a few machine including those weight machine, but there doesn’t seems a lot of people using them. Right before we came down last night, there were a man there but he doesn’t look like a body builder for us, which obviously are not taking bodybuilding supplements, so we are really not going to embarrase ourselves if we would to use the machines here. However, I don’t have my running shoes and extra clothes for exercise, so Mary is the only one using the health centre last night. All hers *LOL*

As for me, I was trying to get myself connected to the Net by using my handphone, but the line connection here is very low, sometimes down to zero. I really wish it could be better so that I can talk to my boys longer. I wonder if they miss their mommy..
