The routine
It was a jiff last night for Mer to take his medicine!! He even going around to my sis and mom telling them how he had just swallow the first shot of the bitter medicine, reporting to them how a sweety good boy he is. I’m glad for that and this prompt me on another truth about my boy, ie. when he doesn’t want to do certain things, he’ll insists and grumpy and being resilient. so it is better to talk him into doing it rather than pressurising him.
Another problem that I’m facing almost every night is bed time. It is dreadful for me to get them into bed early, the earliest that I have was at 9:30 pm. If they are not sleeping by then, then they’ll drag on till 10:30 or even later than that! I just don’t want to face two grumpy-not-enough-sleep boys in the morning. During those time, they’ll talk, sing, play, fight if I’m not in the room and also demanding me to prepare more milk for them which I think it is way too much already.
I’ve been trying to put them into this routine before bed: brush their teeth, wash their feet, let them pee first, get them to change to pyjamas, read to them, let them have their milk, then lay beside them and hoping they’ll fall asleep fast. The hardest part is the last bit which could drag on and on for an hour! Sometimes the more I push them to sleep, the more resilient they became, but it is getting late, I need them to have their rest, else I’ll be rushing in the morning.
Would really love to have the secret recipe for them to get to bed early from any expert out there.

Try music. It has helped my kids to set the mood for bedtime. We played the Cello Suite by Bach for night time and children’s song for day time nap. After their usual routine of brushing teeth and story, I played the Bach’s CD, turn off the lights, and out the room.
Thanks for sharing Chin Yee, that’s sounds so easy for you, no fight at all? I’m so green with envy.
My two are really unpredictable, it will be the opposite to my boys, they need absolute silent to fall asleep, just like the mom unless totally flat out, but they do love music in the car while we are in the go.

I have read that it’s better to have a quiet time before bed time, just to settle them down.
My 8 month old daughter sleeps at 10H30pm and she’ll be up early. Oh well, this is what it’s like to be a mother!!!
Goodluck!
Yes Mayet, Goodluck to all of us. I’m still a L license mom. And ya, their quiet time is reading before bed, probably I have to have that earlier and longer.
