Following the trend

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Over here in Shenzen, most of the major shopping mall do not provide plastic bag unless upon request and they charge. That is a good sign. This big country really should have started this years ago. Imagine there are millions of people going into the mall to buy things and yet everyone bring back one plastic bag!

Major supermarket like Wall-Mart and branded departmental store are joining the environmental friendly action. Since they charge for plastic bags, most of the Chinese are bringing their own recycle bag. Most of them take it without complain.

In Hong Kong they are already in that direction, charging for plastic bag. I would love to see our county doing this rather than encouraging people using plastic bag which really do not decompose.

I’ve got a chance to shop last night in the Flower City Garden, a major shopping mall here in Shekou. Got myself some end of season sale clothes. A fruitful trip for me. After that we went into B&Q to check out some facet, sink and lights. Not that I’m going to renovate my house yet, just that it is good to know the price difference, however they don’t have much modern furniture there, else we would have spent more time in there.

It is more like a DIY shop with lots of things to choose from, wish there is one like this back home.

Talking about home, we are going home today, hoping for a smooth ride.

Night out

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

We went out for dinner in a Japanese restaurant with 15 minutes taxi ride away - “Zhong Shen Ming Cai”. It is situated on the 5th floor of “Hai An Cheng” which is a major shopping mall selling all the branded goods.

The restaurant setting is beautiful with a huge chandelier on the entrance stairway. It uses lots of crystals and red embellishment, string together with transparent nylon. There were some “cubicle” sort of room but they are in round shape. Then there were this huge tree at the end of the restaurant with lights which changes color from blue, green to red.

We’ve order one noodle soup, one fried rice, one fried squid, one sushi platter, one slice of code fish and it cost us RMB311. I like the noodle and the fried rice. I saw the next table were enjoying their steam boat or hot pot.

Behind us is the tree full of light bulbs that changes color, it feels like winter when it is blue and autumn when it is red.

Mer were busy digging his fried rice which turn out that he doesn’t really like it. Not even the cod fish!

So the two boys actually didn’t eat much during dinner, so me and hubby had to eat all the food. I went home with a really full stomach last night.

Hubby and Cal

Hubby and Cal

Here, hubby is looking so serious, probably worrying on how to finish off the food later.

When came paying time, then only hubby realized that he forgot to bring his credit card with him, fortunately he got enough cash to pay for the food and still got some left to buy some groceries later. We were than being given some receipts which the government is having some lucky draw to be given away. Unfortunately we didn’t get any price, probably there is only a small percentage with the lucky number anyway.

After that we went for a walk in the mall and checked the photo printer, the slim Macbook, at the mean time, the boy enjoyed some snapshots of Wall-E on one of the flat screen. Got the boys some tracks for Thomas & Friends from Jusco. To This I think hubby and I are more excited in seeing those tracks rather than our boys. This is more like catching up with things that we couldn’t enjoy while we were kids. Basically Thomas & Friends tracks are for adults to enjoy with those assembling to do. I bet the boys will just love it while it is still “hot”, later they’ll forget all about it till we buy another new track.

After that was groceries time, but it was getting late and we don’t want to miss out 9:30 Chinese series, so me and the boys had some drinks while hubby went off to buy some groceries. The boy had fun or rather arguing over the drinks that they are suppose to share.

That’s about it for our night out with the boys for our dinner, if anyone is interesting in loosing weight, do check out this product call Alli which has recently been approved by FDA to sell over the counter, it is a weight-loss drug.

Being here

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

There are things that happen everyday over here and I’m really fed up with them, one is the boys are still fighting with each other and another one is Mer kept on asking me to read the same book over and over again! As for Cal, he always have this new idea of doing things and explore almost everything in the house, including moving the refill bottle of water which suppose to be very heavy for him!

The other thing that I don’t quite enjoy is cooking. Well, I love food, but I just don’t know to enjoy it now when I’m not familiar with the ingredients over here and where to find them. Another thing is I’m lacking of utensil over here. Oh well, probably this is a good way in loosing weight, since I’m occupied with the boys which I have to keep an eye on them every minute. As for food, mom’s cooking is still the best and I eat more at home, so I don’t think I need diet pills over here to loose weight at all!

I miss home and yet love to be here with my hubby .. 0_o

Ngong Ping - Giant Buddha

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Went to Ngong Ping on 23rd April. It was drizzling and we’ve expected a cooler day but didn’t expect it to be windy and foggy when we reach the Giant Buddha.

We started off our journey by taking the Tung Chung line to get to Ngong Ping cable car station.

Drizzling at first, thus got water drops on my cable car windows, then it got foggy and we seems to be hanging no where on the sky.

The start of our cable car journey, looks a bit scary if you are afraid of height.

This is all we can see from our cable car.

Out for a walk

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Been there before but I went there again, this time with different purpose - to show dad how does it look like, rather than having him stay at home staring at the TV and had most of the time doing the reverse.

We went to Avenue of  Stars  last year and I went back again today. This time have lots of photo opportunity and with clearity but the air is not very clear today. We got off in Tsim Sha Tsui’s station and got the Olympic mascots - Fuwa, welcomed us in different posing for the many games in the Olympic.

We saw even more of them on a stage nearby

Fortunately with the wide angle digital camera, I can stand near to the stage and took this photo. Before us were a mother with daughter who keep on telling her daughter that she can’t get all 5 mascot in the picture *wink*

China, here we come!

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I was officially entering mainland China yesterday with my family. I got a 2 times VISA till November, so maybe I’m going to come back again before November, else will just let it be.

We travel from my sister’s place taking the train then bus over to the custom immigration station entering mainland China, then just walked past the immigration with our passports and took a taxi here. Fortunately there wasn’t a lot of people during noon time. So getting through the immigration was a bliss. The officer even mistaken Mer as Cal *LOL* cos we past up the wrong form for him and he didn’t even ask if that is little Mer or Cal.

We went to Ajisen to have our early dinner at 6pm. It is a must go place for me. I just love their pork ribs soup that is creamy and tasty. Can’t find it in Malaysia. The one in Malaysia is a halal shop, so no pork ribs soup is allow. Half way waiting, we got a sleepy head telling us that he is sleepy, so me and hubby was makign some noice ‘cos we have been telling them to get some sleep before we all went out. However, no matter how we want him to stay awake, he falled asleep in less than 2 minutes! All the way till we got home, then only little Mer woke up.

Yesterday was the closing ceremony of the Olympic game. It wasn’t as grand as the opening ceremony but I can see that all the athelete are carefree now that they’ve done with their race. Well, in another 4 years time, the whole world is going to meet again in London, till then I hope I have the chance to visit London again.

Flying with Nuri

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

This was the first time I used the fully open new Kota KInabalu International Airport. It is kind of like a mini KLIA. All facilities are new but the check-in counter number only shown on the TV screen on top of the counter. Toilet is still clean but definitely wet, which I hate! Unlike Hong Kong International Airport, I always see cleaning ladies in the toilet, wiping the floor dry and refilling tissue, even the wash basin also dry! I really salute them.

We had a bumpy ride and has been warned that there might have strong wind in Hong Kong in the afternoon. Thanks to my sinus medicine and pump, I had no headache at all, thus I had a smooth ride on board.

The boys were being goodie-goodie this time, didn’t walk around the aisle, finished off their food, especially little Mer. He finished his fish with potatoes and carrot till his pack is shinning clean!

After that was nap time for all. The plane wasn’t totally full, thus there are still some empty seats that I can let Mer all stretch out when he sleep. So I’ve found him two empty seats to lay him down, without know that I’ve actually did something against the safety rule on board. No on say anything during the nap time, not even the stewardess who passed by Mer several times. When we almost landing, then only the stewardess told me children are not allow to sit there, but he was sleeping! *Grin* So I had to move him back and let him laid beside me, at that point, Cal has already woke up.

Initially I was worried that there will be Typhoon signal 3 in Hong Kong, thank God that we have clear sky with no wind and rain when we touched down. It is hot though.

Last night we had been warned that there might have even stronger wind today and the authority has given out signal 8 warning from 5am this morning. According to the weather broadcast, Typhoon Nuri is visiting Hong Kong or maybe passing by, but it will definitely hit Hong Kong. No shop will be open when signal 8 is up, street should be clear of people and all flights are being cancelled for today.

Hubby is already up to Shenzhen. Don’t think he would be able to come here again tonight with Typhoon Nuri still around.

If anyone would like to do any purchase at the moment, it will just only be online purchasing activity, and maybe authorize.net could come into help. *wink*

Almost

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Ya.. tomorrow will be it. I might not be able to load any photo here starting tomorrow till end of the month. Hubby said his notebook got virus and it is not advisable to connect my digicam there. *sign*

I’ll be missing all my scrapbooking and craft. I’ve just read a book about making bags, buoy they are so beautiful and I thought to myself, “hey, I could make some of these…” But then it will just have to be when I’m back here, then only I can start looking for the suitable clothes, or maybe I can start looking while I am over in China, will see.

Like usual, I still haven’t pack. I’ve started, but not fully pack yet. The luggage is fill with stuff like milk formula for the kids, hubby spirulina cereal, some clothes and that’s it. There are still lots to put in, like my must 3-step facial care, my toothbrush, sensodym toothpaste and maybe a scrapbook magazine to cure my boredom.

Adios.. oh well.. not really.. I’m sure I’ll still be online even tomorrow *Grin*.

Server down

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Had been quiet in my blog due to my own server, I mean this body of mine was on strike! It didn’t function as it should be, maybe I have been treating it badly with late night sleep, no exercise and maybe just too much meat. I was down for a few days, the worst was Tuesday, I basically spent my whole day laying in bed feeding myself with only porridge, some oat meal and plenty of water. But I still ended up with dried chipped lips! Chronogically, Monday went for Doctor’s appointment as mentioned in the earlier post. The trouble began on that afternoon. Feeling wick, no appetite, need to just lay down, no energy to talk.Tuesday, I slept the whole day, ate only some porridge, oat meal and water. Finally managed to get myself to see doctor in the late afternoon. Brought home some pain killers, flu medicine and anti-vomit medicine, plus 3 days medical leave. Had an early night. Wednesday, was feeling much better and can even brought my mom to the salon to have her hair permed and I got myself a hair wash! *grin*. Thursday was Cal’s school annual sport day. Already planned for taking half day off. Little Mer tag along. Nothing much, Cal only involved with the marching which every kids are in, then he was in one of the game to match things up on a made-up tree. That’s it! But I wasn’t feeling well then and went home barely with any energy, struggling to drive home too. Fortunately mom gave me some miracle. It is something call 熊膽皮 (xiong dan pi), a kind of dried fruits, taken after letting it difused in hot water. If your body is hot (or in Chinese term - heaty), then it will taste like plain water, else it will very bitter. I drank a cup of it without sweat, as it just tasted like plain water! But an hour later when I drank it again, buoy! I was really bitter that I can’t even finish half a cup! I can imagine how hot my body was at that time. I let Cal drank some too and he too said that it just tasted like plain water! I better becareful on things to give him, he always needs lots of water. After that miracle drinks, I was fine and even feel hungry! Which is a good sign. Came Friday, I drag myself up and got ready to work. I was lazy then after resting so many days at home.
